Musée de la Résistance Bretonne

The Breton Resistance Museum in Saint-Marcel, in the Landes de Lanvaux, pays homage to this group which played such an important role in the liberation of Brittany. Built on a site which saw actual fighting, now 6 hectares of wooded grounds, the museum offers 1500 sq. metres of exhibits depicting the involvement of the Bretons during the Second World War. The national museum collections concerning the French paratroopers of the time are also held here. A moving and educational visit taking you to the heart of recent history, including life-size reconstructions: e.g. a street during the Occupation or the inside of a German blockhouse. The visit also includes the gardens where there are cannons, old wartime vehicles and a reconstruction of part of the Atlantic Wall (including a 15 ton rangefinder).
