Ecomuseo della Resistenza "Il Codirosso"
The Ecomuseo della Resistenza "Il Codirosso" (Ecomuseum of the Resisance “Il Codirosso”) in Rossana presents the history of partisan resistance to German and fascist occupation from 1943 to 1945 in Rossana and the surrounding Varaita Valley. A permanent exhibit displays weapons, uniforms and clothing, books and films, drawings and artwork, audio testimonies and interviews, and written records describing the activities of local partisans and liberation.
The museum was founded by Riccardo Assom, an artist, author, and local politician, and grew out of his collection of objects and records of local partisan activity; it has been expanded by donations. The museum’s mission “is above all to manifest a still living and shared memory of the Resistance in our mountains […] to deepen and disseminate local history as regards the opposition to fascism and the struggle for liberation.”
