Musée Départemental de la Résistance et de la Déportation

The Musée Départemental de la Résistance et de la Déportation (Departmental Museum of Ressistance and Deportation) in Manneville-sur-Risle presents the history of resistance and deportation in the Manneville-sur-Risle commune and the surrounding Eure département during the Second World War. The museum’s collections include military and civilian objects as well as photographs, letters, publications, and posters created during wartime which relate local experiences of occupation, resistance, and deportation.

The museum originated with a planning committee in 1972, and was inaugurated in 1979; it is located within the Saint-Nicholas Chapel, dating from the seventeenth century. The Musée Départemental de la Résistance et de la Déportation is dedicated to the memory of the Maquis Surcouf, a resistance group in Normany led by Robert Leblanc and active from 1942 to 1944.
