Sala Storica della Resistenza di Domodossola
The Sala Storica della Resistenza di Domodossola (Domodossola Historical Hall of Resistance) presents the history of and commemorates resistance to German and fascist occupation in the Ossola Valley (Val d’Ossola) from 1943 to 1945. Significance is given to presenting the establishment and subsequent destruction of the Free Republic of Ossola (1944): it was within this museum, which remains the Town Council Chamber for Domodossola, that on September 10, 1944, partisan leaders established a Provisional Council of the Partisan Republic of Ossola. A permanent exhibit in the room displays newspapers, documents and photographs which record this history.
