Mémorial de la Shoah
The Mémorial de la Shoah (Shoah Memorial) in Paris is a permanent memorial and resting place, a historical exhibit, and a leading centre for research and study on the Shoah in France and Europe. The current permanent exhibition on the history of the Shoah and witness testimonies of persecution, roundups, internment, and deportation was inaugurated in 2005, while the site itself has contained a documentation centre and a memorial for decades. During and immediate following the Second World War in France, efforts were made to obtain and preserve records from German and Vichy authorities. In 1956, the Mémorial du Martyr Juif Inconnu (Memorial to the Unknown Jewish Martyr) was installed on the site; the following year, ashes from several extermination camos and the Warsaw Ghetto were interred here. The current memorial includes permanent exhibits, and facilitates study and conferences on research into the Shoah.
In addition to the Shoah Memorial, the Drancy Shoah Memorial is a memorial and museum located in Paris at the site of the former Camp de Drancy; it was inaugurated in 2012.
