Mémorial de la Résistance et de la Déportation de la Loire
The Mémorial de la Résistance et de la Déportation de la Loire (Lore Resistance and Deportation Memorial) in Saint-Étienne is a memorial to the internment and deportation which occurred in France during the Second World War, facilitated by French and German authorities. While it is a memorial to internment and deportation in general, it is in particular a memorial to local internment, resistance, and deportation in the Loire region and under the Vichy Regime, and the approximately 1400 local resident who were deported from France. In addition to the names and records of those deported, the memorial contains witness testimonies and a number of artifacts from deportees.
The memorial was inaugurated on April 25, 1999, by Mayor of Saint-Étienne Michel Thiollière.
